Michael Tateishi, the firm’s founder, has been advocating for people injured in accidents since 1982. He has achieved many successful verdicts, settlements, and awards on behalf of his clients. Mr. Tateishi has extensive experience having tried cases in both the state and the federal courts. In addition, he has had the privilege of arguing before the Hawaii Supreme Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Aside from trial litigation, Mr. Tateishi also counsels his clients and reaches resolutions to avoid unnecessary costs and time. Solutions include, the creative use of alternative dispute resolution techniques, such as mediation and arbitration. In appropriate cases, any of these methods can serve as speedy and inexpensive mechanisms for resolving disputes.

Michael Tateishi double majored in Political Science and Secondary Education at the University of Hawaii. After graduating in 1973, he accepted a teaching job at a local high school. He was excited about working with young people, but while teaching he discovered his undeniable passion for justice. He decided to explore this passion pursuing law. He attended Gonzaga Law School and received his degree in 1977. He spent the next five years working for the Public Defender’s office on both Oahu and Maui. After his time as a Public Defender, he returned to Oahu to join a personal injury law firm. Mr. Tateishi later decided to relocate and establish the firm’s Maui branch. In 1983, he opened his own law firm, and has worked diligently to serve his clients ever since. Throughout his career, he has concentrated on representing people injured in cases involving automobile accidents, medical malpractice, general negligence, and disputes with insurance companies. He has tried and resolved many cases successfully, including some that have settled for over $1 million.
